Amelia Island is getting ready to host the 47th annual shrimp festival.
The clip you see above is from last years shrimp festival. The Shrimp festival in Fernandina started out as the Shrimp boat Races and the art show was added later.
When the fuel got so expensive the shrimp boats could no longer afford the fuel bill just to put on the race, So It evolved into the Isle of Eight Flags shrimp festival , Which has the art exhibits and plenty of other activities.
The Shrimp Festival held on Amelia Island is second to none.
Each year it is a big event for Amelia Island , Music fills the streets and some of the best sea food you could imagine is right here.
Come on down and join in the fun !!

Fernandina Beach, Amelia Island Bars & Pubs
PALACE SALOON– on 113 Centre St., it is the oldest continuously-operated saloon in Florida, in Fernandina’s historic district. Pirate’s Punch is the “famous” rum drink of Fernandina Beach. Hundreds of years ago, Amelia Island was the stamping ground of pirates, sea captains, and sailors and The Palace Saloon was the “ship captain’s bar.” The saloon’s 40-foot bar is a wonderful relic from the turn of the century, surrounded by mosaic tile floors, embossed tin ceilings and murals painted on the walls. The founder of Anheuser-Busch, Adolphus Busch, reportedly assisted in designing the elegant bar, lit with gas lamps.
