First look at Amelia Island Hotels

Amelia Island hotels are a great choice and today I would like to tell you about one.
Is it a quick review I did to give you some insight for a place to stay here on Amelia Island.

Seaside Amelia Inn is located at 2900 Atlantic Avenue. They have about 44 rooms . They let me in one and I took some pictures for you.

The rooms are nice neat and clean they have microwave and mini refrigerator .

A nice swimming pool if you like to swim in fresh water rather than the ocean.
They also have a roof top terrace.

The ocean is just out the front door and to the right not many steps and you are in the sand on one of the best Beaches in Florida. Most of the time its not crowded either.

You will find other Amelia Island hotels but this one is on the A list if you ask me.

No need to fight for a parking place to go to the beach and drag the cooler out and all the hassle. Your room is just not that far away with all the comforts of home

Now after the sun goes down the night life begins.
Have a good time at Sandy Bottoms and again just a short walk (very short ) and you are home again in your room. I don’t think it can get much better than that..

I like the place and it has a price range from 99.00 dollars to 199.00 dollars.
And yes they do have specials so If you are coming this way check them out for sure.
I plan on doing other reviews of Amelia Island hotels as well.

Amelia Island Fl April 30, 2010

Seafood lovers and art enthusiasts gather on Amelia Island for it’s annual Shrimp Festival on April 29th through May 2nd . Returning for its 47th year, the 2010 Shrimp Festival takes place on the small north Florida barrier Island of Amelia Island Florida. In addition to games and entertainment, the festival will feature three full days of art exhibits from all over the country.

Amelia Island, the birthplace of the modern shrimp industry, originally held its first festival in 1964 as a local shrimp boat race, blessing of the fleet and art show.  “ The festival started out far different than what it has become today” said Dee Dee Bartel, the founder of the Shrimp Festival – it now draws over 150,000 people from all over the world.

Over 325 artists and craftsmen from all over the United States come here to compete in fierce competition, with total cash prizes of  over $9,000  awarded to the winners. The Isle of eight flags Shrimp Festival has repeatedly been recognized as one of the top art shows in the United States – which has resulted in some of the top artists in the United States being drawn to it.

In addition to arts and crafts lining the streets at the festival , there will be scores of other activities such as the pirate parade, pirate invasion, fireworks, beauty pageant, and a host of stage performances.  Amongst the performers will be the hugely popular Swinging Medallions – who had the hit double shot (of my baby’s love ). Also featured will be Jimmy Hall, formerly of Wet Willie.

Outstanding food will be available, in addition to the antique and craft vendors which will line the historic streets for those who enjoy handmade items.
As always, the fireworks start the evening with the Pirates invasion Friday evening, April 30th on Amelia Island, with the Fernandina pirates sailing into the harbor at approximately 9:30 pm.

Amelia Island is getting ready to host the 47th annual shrimp festival.
The clip you see above is from last years shrimp festival. The Shrimp festival in Fernandina started out as the Shrimp boat Races and the art show was added later.

When the fuel got so expensive the shrimp boats could no longer afford the fuel bill just to put on the race, So It evolved into the Isle of Eight Flags shrimp festival , Which has the art exhibits and plenty of other activities.

The Shrimp Festival held on Amelia Island is second to none.
Each year it is a big event for Amelia Island , Music fills the streets and some of the best sea food you could imagine is right here.
Come on down and join in the fun !!
