This exciting 3-day festival of our bioregion around Amelia Island, includes numerous nature tours led by area naturalists and Park Rangers, nature photography workshops taught by local professionals, a green business expo, The ‘Kids Niche’ nature-based activities for children, live music, critters from the Jacksonville Zoo, stargazing and more! This is the 4th year for the Wild Amelia Nature Festival. Last year the Nature Photography contest and classes were a big hit and those programs will be expanded this year. The winning photos included birds, flowers and landscapes.

Dropoff/pick is at the SW corner of S. 2nd and Ash Streets. Fernandina Beach High School is the designated parking area for handicapped visitors. Parking is $10 per vehicle, free shuttle bus.

Amelia Island is getting ready to host the 47th annual shrimp festival.
The clip you see above is from last years shrimp festival. The Shrimp festival in Fernandina started out as the Shrimp boat Races and the art show was added later.

When the fuel got so expensive the shrimp boats could no longer afford the fuel bill just to put on the race, So It evolved into the Isle of Eight Flags shrimp festival , Which has the art exhibits and plenty of other activities.

The Shrimp Festival held on Amelia Island is second to none.
Each year it is a big event for Amelia Island , Music fills the streets and some of the best sea food you could imagine is right here.

Here is just little that goes on in Fernandina Beach during the Shrimp Festival. If you get a chance come on down this year it happens every May! When I think about it there is a lot that goes on here on this little island. We have had movies made here among other things. This Island has seen quite a few famous people from those in the past to present day.

There will be two days of programming and events in celebration of  the written word, AIBF is a favorite event for families, with something for even the littlest readers.  The Friday opening will feature a day-long Writers’ Workshop followed by an evening Story and Song Concert.  Saturday’s free events and activities include an author bookstore, presentations, food booths and more.  On Saturday evening the festival presents a special event with best-selling author Pat Conroy and his daughter, Melissa.  More than 30 local, regional and nationally renowned authors will sign books and offer programs on a wide variety of topics.
